What is a Relaxing massage?

When life seems overwhelming, this treatment is the perfect way to de-stress, unwind and chill out. Using light, flowing strokes and high-quality oil, your massage therapist will carefully release your muscles and calm your nervous system. A gentle, nurturing massage for when you need a little self-care.

Who would benefit from a Relaxing massage?

Anyone who is experiencing elevated stress will feel the benefits of this treatment. Book it for an evening, weekend or whenever you have some time to yourself to make the most of the feelings of deep-relaxation it promotes.

People who may choose to select this treatment:

  • Looking for relaxation. If you want something more upbeat, try an Energising massage.
  • Prefer lighter pressure.
  • Want to feel calm and supported.

People who should not choose a Relaxing massage:

  • Looking for deep pressure. Try a Deep Tissue massage instead.
  • Those with general massage contraindications, including active cancer, acute infection, cellulitis, thrombosis and acute allergies.
  • Pregnant women. Try a pregnancy massage instead.

Relaxing massage potential benefits

  1. Calms the central nervous system.
  2. Promotes a feeling of comfort and security.
  3. Decreases cortisol levels in the body, reducing stress.

During your Relaxing treatment

A Relaxing massage should be a tranquil escape from the pressures of your daily life. Adjust the lighting and temperature in the room where you will receive your treatment to make sure you are completely comfortable. Before your massage you will remove your clothes (except for underwear), and lie on the table covered by a towel. Your therapist will use soothing high-quality oil to gently release areas of tension.

Relaxing techniques

Inspired by a Swedish massage, your therapist will use the long, slow strokes and kneading movements of effleurage and petrissage. Special attention will be paid to the head, face, neck and face, for a full body experience.

After your Relaxing massage

Even though this type of massage has a light touch, you may still feel slightly sore in places where tension was released. Should you feel any aches after your treatment, take a warm bath and be sure to drink plenty of water.

What is the difference between a Relaxing and a Swedish massage?

Like the Urban Classic, the Relaxing massage also uses Swedish massage techniques, but with less tapotement and lighter pressure.

Does a Relaxing massage hurt?

This type of massage shouldn’t be painful. If you do experience discomfort at any time, let your therapist know immediately.

What type of therapists specialise in Relaxing massage?

Therapists who are qualified in classic massage, and probably have a background in beauty therapy and/or experience working in spas. They may also offer an energising massage.
