Three easy ways to make your living room massage ready

Share

Never had a massage before? No worries – everyone has to start somewhere.

If you’re new to the game, we’d always recommend an Urban Classic to start you on your wellness journey. It’s based on the traditional Swedish massage, and is perfect if you want to de-stress, unwind and boost your body’s immune system.

Asking your therapist to set up in your living room is a great neutral space you should feel comfortable in. Here’s our guide on how to prep your living room before your therapist turns up.

Light some candles

candle

Create a relaxing atmosphere for your treatment by lighting your favourite candle. Aim to light it 20-30 minutes before your therapist arrives so that the room can fill with the scent. If you want to have your massage by candlelight try lighting a few unscented candles, this will avoid mixing multiple smells which can upset the senses making you feel unbalanced.

Turn off technology

The living room can generally be a distracting place full of gadgets, so actively try and turn off as many electronics as you can before your treatment. If you really want to relax and immerse yourself in the massage, your mobile phone should be switched to silent and off vibrate, your TV should be turned off and any other devices should be dimmed or deactivated if possible.

Play some music

The only exception to our technology rule above is one gadget that can play some soft music in the background while your treatment takes place. If this is your phone, put it on airplane mode so you won’t receive any pinging notifications during your treatment. Not only will the music be soothing, but it can also be calming to focus on the notes of the song which helps you zone out completely during your treatment.
